Nuts about nets.

The humble net is a key part of every anglers arsenal. Some are brave enough to fish without one, I am not one of those people. Having a net allows you to land fish quickly, handle them delicately and get them back in the water safe as sound. Nets come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes and it's hard to know what to choose. Really it all comes down to personal preference. I like a large net head with a short handle, here are a few reasons why.

  • A Large net head allows you to get the fish in quickly, it minimises stabbing for the fish and potentially knocking the fish off at the net.
  • It will handle anything from tiny trout from little rivers to big coastal sea trout.
  • A short handle allows for more control and accuracy, long-handled nets can be unwieldy and cumbersome. If you play the fish well you should always have it close enough to you for a short-handled net to give you plenty of reach.
  • It sits perfectly on your back, you don't have a long handle jabbing you in the legs and the net head sits perfectly between the shoulders. You hardly notice its there.

Net choice is surprisingly important, having the right net can make a big difference to your enjoyment on the water. From a background in competition fishing where every fish lost makes you want to cry, I have given lots of thoughts into what makes the perfect net and now we are selling them, they are awesome and come in 42 colour options.
